Death Penalty: Fix It, Don’t Nix It!

ScumThe events that transpired during the 1996 death penalty trial of my 12-year-old daughter Polly’s killer were extreme, even for a death penalty case, but the events that have transpired in the 17 years since simply defy belief. No one, not even the defense, argued that Richard Allen Davis wasn’t the person who snuck into Polly’s bedroom in the late evening of October 1, 1993, tied, bound and gagged her girlfriends and stole her into the night. All agreed that he strangled and discarded her remains on a trash pile adjacent to a freeway off ramp in Cloverdale, CA in the early hours of the next morning. The points of contention were whether or not he raped my child and whether he committed the heinous crime of his own free will or if the Devil made him do it.

More of his life has been spent behind bars than on the street. He had been previously diagnosed as a sexually sadistic psychopath, and his endless rap sheet was filled with violent encounters, attempted sexual assaults and kidnappings. People would avoid him on the street because of his public drinking, prison tattoo’s, surly manner, or gruff language. He had no friends because he couldn’t be trusted, so he depended upon his duplicitous family for support.

He was three months out of prison, rehabilitated, and working a job that paid more than twice the minimum wage when he decided to murder my child. Prior to being released from prison he told cell mates that he would avoid AIDS by, “Getting a young one.” Kidnapping, raping and murdering my little girl was Richard Allen Davis’ definition of safe sex.

richarddavis3Evil exists and he epitomizes evil. When he was found guilty of killing Polly he turned toward the jury and stuck both middle fingers in the air. As the sentence of death was about to be imposed, he told the judge that he didn’t rape the little girl because she told him, “Don’t do me like my dad.” Apparently, the depths of his depravity have no boundaries.

Many good men and women who helped to solve the case have quietly passed since he was sentenced to death row seventeen-years ago. Should the glacial appeals process for Polly’s killer be exhausted there is a small, but determined group of individuals who will continue to lobby on his behalf. They decry the death penalty. They say that it is inhumane, that it is beneath us as a civilization, that it is immoral and that it costs too much. They have successfully denied the law and subverted the will of the people of California for far too long.

We need to exert our will and demand that justice be served. It has become apparent that this will never be accomplished through the California state legislature. Join me in supporting the Death Penalty Reform & Savings Coalition.

  1. As long as I have breath in my lungs I will support your cause.

I will NEVER understand those who defend such criminals of heinous crimes against children or those who claim that the death penalty is ‘inhumane’. Exactly where is the logic that these evil individuals who torture, rape and kill children, be treated humanely? Did they treat their victims humanely? NO!

I believe criminals, such as this one, don’t deserve to roam our streets, EVER! Death is indeed the perfect sentence! Individuals like them cannot be rehabilitated!

Our prison system was first created to be harsh, a form of punishment, to teach criminals that doing the crime you will do the time. Since then, we’ve given criminals the power to be ‘successful criminals’ we as tax payers supply them with a library filled with knowledge to help themselves not in the way it was intended, more so in educating them from ever going back to prison. They educate themselves on how NOT to get caught! They learn NOT to leave witnesses behind, they learn all about DNA and how it can connect them to a crime.

And yes they also get three meals a day, a shower, clothes on their back, a bed to sleep, a television to watch, an education on whatever subject they desire and, although a small amount, they even get to make money, which brings me to WHY prisons stay filled w/criminals, why companies don’t want the death penalty, they spend millions of dollars funding lobbyist in Washington. Here is the website on all the companies who benefit from prison labor, http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/12/14/928611/-INSOURCING-Identifying-businesses-involved-in-prison-labor-or-supporting-those-who-are#

Anyway I will help you, Mr. Klaas, I will support your fight for justice. I will do whatever it takes to ensure justice for all of our children. Let me know how I can help your cause.

    Sincerely,
    Raelynn Omar

  2. he should be put to death and then rot in hell with the devil that told him to do it! God Bless you Mr Klass

  3. Marc. I will share this via my Twitter (@dr_gonzo1968) You are in the thoughts and prayers of my entire family. My wife Peggy and my 7 children (Emily, Billy, Taylor Belle, Alex, Noah, Marley and Logan) I can’t begin to imagine what you’ve been through and still going through after all these years. I can only offer you my, undying, support. God bless you, sir.

  4. Richard Allen did what he did not because any other Devil told or made him rape and murdered Polly but, he himself is a devil and Indian. They have nothing not even a heart for any living thing. Richard’s own Grandmother took up for him for murdering a child, (Polly) and told him to remember what he was and his Heritage as an Indian. He’s part of the animal world but sometimes some animals has more brains than does some people. Richard is not a person and lives life as do bad evil spirits. The white man is the fools of this world with turning away from God as it’s been since the beginning of time. We have NO laws any more because of stupid white men. In color I’m white but, I’m ashame of my race, (White). We’ve done away with all Godly things and turned to Devilish ways. Richard by man’s laws shall never see the Hang’s Rope but, in the Higher Court to come he’ll suffer worse than a rope. Hell, Where ever it shall be is an Eternal place with no end, no getting out and no forgiveness. Richard shall dwell there with all his kind. Hell is where one suffers in many ways with no ending. He’ll only wish he could die but death comes not to those there.

  5. That Black hearted evil p.o.s. will lick the flames of Hell one day. Then he can flip-off the devil that made him do it.
Maybe he and Carl Roberts can be buddies in Hell.
    OK, I’m done!

  6. Marc,
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you await for this monster to get his just reward. It is a crime against Polly and your family that this *%$*! is sitting and using up taxpayers money when he should have been gone so long ago…I pray his sentence is carried out soon.
Thank you for all you do to help other children and their families..God bless you…

  7. How much dignity and mercy did he show that little girl? NONE~ that is how much dignity and mercy we should show him ~ he needs to be executed.

  8. I would make sure i either got locked up or moved into a house as close to this animal as possible and then trust me, he would never be in a position to hurt someone again……………

  9. This p.o.s. has been alive way to long. He should have been executed long ago. He cannot be rehabilitated and this nonsense about the devil is merely a pathetic attempt to avoid the death penalty. ENOUGH. Save money by executing him. No need to feed, clothe or house him. What is wrong is that our legal system forgets the victim, Polly doesn’t get a second chance.

  10. I remember well Polly’s murder. Shouldn’t be that long to keep them in Death Row. It’s all politics not pubic safety anymore.

  11. I have a beautiful 8 year old girl . I always check her window after going to bed, I do it automatically, somehow in the back of my mind Polly’s case is always alerting me to do it.

    1. I meant, “I check her window before going to bed”. I have also forgot to share that I support death penalty. Especially for this heinous monster.

  12. I remember this case well. I was outraged to this POS being allowed to make ANY statement. There is evil. He deserves death. He earned it. He is nothing more then a coward. I’m sure all good men would love to put him down.

  13. Richard Allen Davis is a perfect candidate for the death penalty. His crimes prove he is pure evil and has nothing to contribute to society. He should be put to death immediately..

  14. Mark, As a father to three girls I am still, to this day horrified at what happened to your daughter and family. I am NOT in favor of the death penalty with the exception of crimes against children and this is clearly a case where the evil needs to be removed from this earth. My prayers go out to you and your family in the hopes that justice will be served swiftly and that you will be reunited with Polly in Heaven. I am happy to help in whatever way I can.
    Blessings,
    Mike

  15. I WANT TO KNOW HOW THE SYSTEM HAS EVER GOT TO POINT OF THEY PROTECT THE MURDERERS AND CALL IT CRUEL THE DEATH PENALTY AFTER WHAT THE VICTIMS GO THROUGH WHEN THEY KILLED THEM .THE HORRIFIC TORTURE ,THIS BEING A CHILD TO.yes i was shouting it outrages me .people can admit they did it but they have rights dont you know.they have thier appeals to file .they sit on death row years sometimes even get it overturned ,and fuss about cost of it .well when trial is over they admit it most .thats enought take them right them strap down .its to easy anyway compared to thier victims death.dont put on death row.laws need changed .after they are convicted they have no rights .after they do a crime like he did to Polly he has no rights .it should been over for him just like she didnt get a second chance ,
