Steps for ActivationThe Amber Plan is a voluntary partnership between law enforcement agencies and broadcasters to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. New Hampshire follows FCC Part 11 regulations in child abduction emergencies, alerting the public via the Emergency Alert System. The only agency authorized to issue an Amber Alert in New Hampshire is State Police (603-271-3636).

When law enforcement is sure a child has been abducted, they issue an Amber Alert, via EAS, to the broadcast media. The intent is to create thousands of extra eyes and ears to look for the victim and perpetrator. Individual broadcast stations and cable TV franchises will repeat Amber Alert information as often as possible at the request of NH State Police.
Criteria for Activation* Victim is 17 years of age or younger
* Law Enforcement belives the victim is in danger of serious bodily harm or death
* There is enough descriptive information about the child, abductor, and/or suspect’s vehicle to believe an immediate alert will help
* The child and/or abductor is likely to still be in the area.
