Administrating Agency: The Nevada AMBER Alert Review Committee shall administer the State of Nevada AMBER Alert Program. The Review Committee shall be comprised of a representative selected by the State EAS Committee, a representative selected by the Nevada Broadcasters Association and ten (10) representatives from state and/or local law enforcement agencies selected by the Governor.
Participating Agencies and Organizations:
Nevada Governor’s office, Nevada Attorney General, Nevada Lt. Governor, Nevada Broadcasters Association, Nevada Emergency Management, Nevada Highway Patrol, Nevada Public Safety, Nevada Department of Transportation, KOLO Television, Local Law Enforcement.
Steps for Activation: The AMBER Alert designated contact person will call the appropriate EAS Local Primary station to activate an AMBER Alert. Request that the information in the form be run three to four times an hour after the initial activation for the next two or three hours. Utilize the agency’s designated Public Information Officer (PIO) who will contact broadcast stations within 30 minutes. The PIO will provide any new information about the case. The PIO will also contact the stations about the conclusion or resolution of the activation and provide the station with a callback phone number to verify the information in the activation.
Scope of Amber Alert: Statewide.
Criteria for Activation: The investigating law enforcement agency confirms that an abduction has occurred. The victim is 17 years of age or younger, or has a proven mental or physical disability. The victim is in imminent danger of serious injury or death. There is information available that, if provided to the public, could assist in the child's safe recovery.
Utilizes Emergency Alert System: The State of Nevada AMBER Alert Plan is a voluntary, cooperative program between law enforcement and public safety agencies and radio, television and cable broadcasters, to use the Emergency Alert System, or EAS, and other resources, to provide timely information to the public when a child has been abducted and authorities believe the child is in grave danger. The goal of the program is the safe return of an abducted child.
Reporting Phone Number: If you witness a child abduction, contact your local law enforcement agency or call 911 immediately! Provide information on the location of the abduction and a description of the victim, the suspect and/or any vehicle involved.
