| Steps for Activation: |
The initiating law enforcement agency contacts the Dane County Public Safety Communication Center (DCPSCC) to request Amber Alert activation. After verifying the information DCPSCC will activate an Amber Alert utilizing the Emergency Alert System (EAS). DCPSCC will post the information on the Amber Alert website. Wisconsin radio and television stations interrupt programming to broadcast information about an abducted child using the Emergency Alerting System (EAS), which is typically used for alerting the public to severe weather emergencies. Amber Alerts will broadcast every 30 minutes for the first two hours, then every hour for the next three hours. Radio and TV station participation is provided as a public service, without commercial endorsement. |

| Criteria for Activation: |
Child must be 17 years of age or younger. The child must be in danger of serious bodily harm or death. Initiating agency must have enough descriptive information about the child, the suspect(s) and/or the suspect vehicle(s) to believe an immediate broadcast alert will help locate the child. |
| Utilizes Emergency Alert System: |
The Emergency Alert System (EAS) provides a rapid response in the search of an abducted child. When a warning alert is activated, the entire community or the entire state is searching for an abducted child in a matter of minutes. |
