Sierra LaMar Has No Rights!

Sierra LaMar

Ladies and gentlemen, this press conference has given us a peek into a mother’s anguish. It has also given us an opportunity to witness the loyalty and dedication of the amazing volunteers who turn out week after week after week to search for Sierra Lamar. The reality is that none of this is really necessary because there is an individual sitting in the Santa Clara County Jail who has the answers.

But on Saturday morning while these volunteers wake up at the crack of dawn, grab a cup of coffee, put their best face on and then come out here to look for Sierra, that individual sleeps in, and then somebody brings him breakfast. That’s been going on for ten months now. They keep piling charges onto this character, yet he’s never entered a plea.

He’s in protective custody. The authorities can’t even talk to him because he’s invoked his right to have a lawyer. There is absolutely nothing going on. He’s playing you, he’s playing me, he’s playing Sierra’s family, and he’s playing the system for everything its worth.

These are his rights, but what about Sierra’s rights?

  1. Hey Klaas, you have been so blinded by the tragedy of your daugher’s kidnapping and murder that you seemed to have forgotten WE LIVE IN AMERICA WHERE WE ARE GUARANTEED CERTAIN LIBERTIES, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO A LAWYER.

If you want any chance at getting a conviction on this guy (and by the way, I am NOT saying he is innocent, I’m just saying the man deserves his day in court) then he NEEDS a lawyer.

  2. Oh I just realized THAT MY COMMENTS MUST AWAIT MODERATION BEFORE I POST THEM.

So not only do you want to chip away and our citizen’s rights to a fair and speedy trial — you also want to chip away at freedom of speech!

  3. You’re right, Sierra has no rights because she is missing and presumably dead. But guess what, the suspect IS STILL A US CITIZEN AND IS GURANTEED CERTAIN RIGHTS IN OUR CONSTITUTION, AND ONE OF THEM IS TO A FAIR AND SPEEDY TRIAL. Do you want to attack our Constitutional freedoms now, Mr. Klaas? Especially on a man WHO HAS YET TO EVEN BE BROUGHT TO TRIAL? So suddenly suspects are no longer given rights that are afforded to other US citizens? What if the police arrest you for a crime, don’t tell you what it is, deny you a laywer, and hold you without bail? Whether you like it or not, this man deserves his rights, especially since he has not even gone to trial yet. If you have a problem with it, Klaas, go back in time and bitch at the Founding Fathers.

    1. Wow! You are one mean spirited person, aren’t you Nikki! So, tell me more about this fair and speedy trial. He has been in custody for nearly a year, charges are piling up and he hasn’t even entered a plea yet. I believe that Sierra’s family, the families of all crime victims, deserve a speedy trial as well. Trouble is that they don’t have any rights under the Constitution. Yes, I take exception to this, but instead of “bitching” (very eloquent) at the Founding Fathers, we have the ability to amend the Constitution to keep pace with the times.

  4. He can also remand or delay the hearing for years because of thr California law, Feed him to the guys in general population, Just a few as there is a bounty on his head and his families head inside the jail and on the streets.

  5. It’s a crying shame that we protect the quilter, while Sierra’s family suffers everyday! This type of pain is like someone stabbing you with a knife in your stomach…Justice for Sierra! God bless her family!
